Tammy @ Rare NYC

If you're looking for a hairstylist that knows her s%*t and will make you look great, then look no more because I've found one for you.  Her name is Tammy Reynolds and she works her magic at Rare Salon in NYC.

RARE by Ruth Roache, one of the hottest downtown hairspots, is a salon where artistry meets wearability and where you can see Tammy for your next hair cut or color.  Rare is located in Tribeca on Church St. between Lispenard & Walker so you're a hop, skip and a jump from all major subway lines.

The prices for a cut with a Master Stylist, like Tammy, is $75 and $95 for men and women, respectively, but as a first time client you can get a discount of up to 30% off your first cut (or color).

Although the money you spend on a haircut is important especially during an economic recession, I find that quality of work and customer service is just as important. Fortunately for you and me, you get all three for the price of one from Tammy.

So next time you're in NYC and want a cool cut (or color) go see Tammy and let her know that her fellow Gemini client referred you.  Happy Cutting!

Jivamukti Yoga Center at Union Square

When the mind and the heart are stretched together in expanding self awareness, I assure you, there is instantaneous self transcendence and, therefore, limitless freedom.

This is the opening, quoted by SHRI SWAMI NIRMALANANDA, in the Jivamukti Yoga School website.

If this introduction is anything like attending an "open class" at the Jivamukti Yoga School you will be more than pleasantly surprised at how perfectly Shri Swami Nirmanlandanda's words represent Jivamukti's mission and what it offers to yoga lovers.  From the warm and welcoming Jivamukti staff members to the health conscious cafe, your visit to JYC will be an experience you'll be sure to remember.

So if you're looking for a place where you'll be surrounded by compassion, love and ultimately jivamukti i.e. liberation, then the Jivamukti Yoga School at Union Square is the place to be.

You will walk out of the center onto Broadway feeling like your body, heart, soul and mind have been stretched, educated, and loved.  See you in class!

Conquering Lion Yoga - Graduation Ceremony

What a blessing it was to have been part of Kelly Morris' first Conquering Lion Yoga graduation ceremony!  Not only did I get to meet and speak to Kelly (yoohoo!!!) and some of her fellow yoga colleagues and students, but in just a few hours I shared in the love, joy and happiness that makes up the Conquering Lion's teacher training program.  Kelly Morris is not only founder and director of the Conquering Lion Program, but she's lineage holder in the Gelupka tradition of his Holiness the Dalai Lama.   Yes, she's the real deal!

I'm so looking forward to taking Kelly's class on Friday nights at The Shala in NYC.

Noho NY ArtWalk - April 2011

The Eighth Annual Noho NY ArtWalk event was a smashing hit!  The opening reception held at TD Bank was open to the public and offered a creative mix of art, fashion, and music.

Noho NY BID surely lived up to its name and delivered a delightful experience to local viewers and artists.  While attendees enjoyed the night's event admiring hand-selected artwork and delicious food and beverage, Executive Director, Harriet Fields, introduced live entertainment from A Cappella vocals of the Decibelles and smooth jazz rhythms of the Seth Okrend Band.  The fashion side of the night featured a fashion show from Sohung Designs and Prizy Sebastian.

The popularity of the ArtWalk has dramatically risen in the 8 years that the BID has held the event.  The BID placed more than 250 works of art into more than 25 neighborhood stores. Very impressive.  Keep up the great work!

A.K.O.O Photo Shoot

As promised, here are some kewl pixs from last week's photo shoot of the A.K.O.O. spring and summer collection.

After a select group of photographers and bloggers ended the afternoon with all their aimin', clickin', and shootin', I chatted it up with A.K.O.O.'s funky fresh stylist, Sha lik, who gave me a brief one on one of the collection's history, style, and direction.

I won't bore you with details of the line's background and all. You can get that from wikipedia.  :)
But I can say first hand from seeing A King OOneself's team in action that their professionalism, teamwork and funky fresh style is the real deal.  Congrats T.I.!!!

A.K.O.O. clothing is a nice blend of upscale urban, casual, classic wear.  So the likes of Tiger Woods, Larry King, and Kobe Bryant can surely rock these threads.  Whether you're on the golf course, b ballin' or just chillin' with your boo, you'll still look fly...Sweet!!!

And to put money where my words are, here are some pixs for you to see for yourself...Namaste!
